Declutter
the 16th Stress Management Technique
In Your Relaxed-and-At-Ease Guide to Stress Management Techniques
I think I need to declutter! As I look around my space and see the little piles of things I've collected and haven't dealt with quite yet, I'm reminded of how good it feels to be in a Zen-like space. One professional declutterer advised me that to have a Zen-like experience with my space, there should be equal amounts of empty space to full space where ever you look. That means walls, counters, shelves, floors... anything where stuff is. Needless to say, I am still aspiring to this. As you can read about on my
stop procrastinating and just do it
page, it is a great practice to handle things only once - and just do what needs to be done at that time. It's also wonderful and makes life so much easier to be free of clutter and organized. There's some great, useful and easily implementable advice about how to do this here on the web - for anyone who wants to use this excellent stress management technique. Are you feeling overwhelmed? Don't be! There is help. You can, of course, ask a friend to help you. Sometimes just having someone there while you go through the process of asking yourself these useful questions as you declutter can be invaluable... - Do I love it?
- Do I use it?
- Is it a treasure or important to me?
Or, you can hire a professional organizer to help. If you don't know anyone, use this link
